'Community Conversations' features Mercy Foundation, a law clinic and other topics

A large grant to remake a city park, Mercy Foundation events and a law clinic run by UC Merced students are discussed this week on “Community Conversations,” a public service program on KYOS.

The hour-long show focuses on community, education and government news affecting residents throughout Merced County. It airs on KYOS, 1480 AM, at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The weekend lineup includes: Recreation Coordinator Joey Chavez talking about the city of Merced’s $2.6 million grant for McNamara Park; Jim Cunningham and Lisa Wegley of the Mercy Foundation on Celebrate a Life; Dan Arnold from the city Public Works Department reminding people what goes in the blue recycling container; Staci Santa, executive director of the Merced County Arts Center, on membership drives and art shows; Medya Aghaansari with UC Merced's Pre-Law Society on a student-run law clinic; and Jim Kocher, publicity director for Playhouse Merced, on the opening of its Christmas season play Cinderella.

This week the program is hosted by Mike Conway, the public information officer for the city of Merced and Scott Hernandez-Jason, senior public information representative for UC Merced. The program engineer is Rick McMillion of KYOS. The show is produced by the Merced County Office of Education, Roger Wood, the city of Merced Public Information Office, and the University of California, Merced, in association with the county of Merced and Merced College.
