A Delhi woman was arrested on drug charges after being stopped by a Merced County Sheriff’s Department deputy while she was walking home Sunday evening.
Deidre Sage, 42, was walking in the area of Arena Way and Sunset Drive about 6 p.m. in the Livingston area when Deputy Sam Becerra stopped to ask if she needed help. Sage told the deputy she was on her way home, and when Becerra asked for her name, she told him she had a warrant for her arrest.
Becerra asked Sage if she had anything illegal on her, and she told him she had a methamphetamine smoking pipe in her purse. When Becerra found the pipe, he noticed it contained a small amount of meth. Sage told him she had been using meth on and off for 20 years.
Sage was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and the misdemeanor warrant. She remains in the Merced County jail on $14,000 bail.
