Dairy workers in Chowchilla accused of cattle rustling

Two men were arrested on cattle rustling charges Tuesday, the Madera County Sheriff's Department reported today.

The men, who were working at a dairy on Avenue 4 in Chowchilla, are accused of taking newborn calves and selling them, sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart said. Detectives believe that they were slaughtered.

Both men were booked into the Madera County jail on grand theft charges and face deportation, she said.
