Still time for photos and booths at downtown's Cap & Town festival Friday

The city of Merced said food, friends and fun are on tap for the third annual Cap & Town Festival Friday, May 13, from 5 to 10:30 p.m. in downtown Merced.

Sponsored by the city, the “Ultimate Block Party” celebrates the region’s academic achievements, and features fun for every age group and interest.

Food booths, a beer garden, pony rides, bounce houses, community artists, a rock wall, arts and crafts vendors, dancers and bands performing on three different stages spread out throughout the downtown — it’s an event for everyone from preschoolers to PhDs, the city said in a news release.

There’s still time to email a photo of your favorite graduate with a short biography to Event Coordinator Maria Mendoza at mendozam@cityofmerced.org. The photos will be on display at the Cap & Town Festival.

People interested in setting up a booth also have time left. “Vendors that have interactive activities that engage and entertain people are wanted. We want to encourage creativity at this year’s Cap & Town,” Mendoza said. “So anyone with a unique idea for entertaining the community should call.” Mendoza can be reached at (209) 385-6827.
