Camp Green Meadows is piloting a new summer recreation camp to sixth- through eighth-graders.The five-day program runs June 6-10 at Camp Green Meadows in Fish Camp and the Sierra National Forest near Yosemite National Park.
Different than the traditional school year’s outdoor school program, the summer camp will host a variety of recreational activities, trail hikes, exploring Big Creek, and two day trips exploring Yosemite National Park during their stay.
"We are looking forward to be able to offer for the first time a Summer Camp program that will be excitingly different from what we do during the school year. It really is a great opportunity for the children of Merced County and surrounding areas.” said Green Meadow’s Principal Bob Bassett.
To make the summer camp a reality, Green Meadows needs a minimum of 50 campers to register by May 20.Registration is first come first served and the price is $275 per child with all meals, activities and lodging and included. This is a one-time rate for the pilot program.
Children will be picked up in Merced on the morning of June 6 and returned June 10 in the early afternoon.A parent meeting is scheduled in the Clark/Newbold rooms at the Merced County Office of Education on Monday, May 16, at 6:15 p.m.
Credit cards, check and money orders can be used for registration fees.
