Sober Grad Night, Open Cockpit Day and mental health are some of the topics this week on “Community Conversations,” a public service program on KYOS.
The hour-long show focuses on community, education and government news affecting residents throughout Merced County. It airs on KYOS, 1480 AM, at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday.
This weekend’s lineup includes: Greg McDaniel talks about the Atwater Fourth of July Celebration; Debbie Hamrick talks about the Merced/Golden Valley Sober Graduation; Joe Pruzzo talks about Open Cockpit Day at Castle Air Museum; Lindsey Johnson from the City’s Parks and Community Services Department talks about how an upcoming self-defense class can help women in their personal safety; Sharon Jones from the Merced County Mental Health Department talks about programs available; and Craig McKeeman from the Merced Police Department will talk about the problems people have properly installing car seats for infants and children and how they need to get proper instructions.
The hosts this week are Nathan Quevedo, the public information officer for the Merced County Office of Education and Mike Conway, the public information officer at the city of Merced. Rick McMillion from KYOS is the engineer. The show is produced by MCOE, the City of Merced, Roger Wood, and Scott Hernandez-Jason of UC Merced, in association with the county of Merced and Merced College.
