Merced High Marching 100 band to hold spring concert May 24 in Applegate Park

The Merced High School Marching 100 band will hold its annual spring concert and awards night in at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the amphitheater in Applegate Park.

Organizers suggested that people bring a blanket and a picnic dinner while they listened to live entertainment.Robert Hillhouse, director, said the band competed this year with 110 students. Four seniors will graduate, and he said he expects a band of 150 members next year.

The band won grand sweepstakes at three parades this past season — the Selma Band Review, the Lincoln Review of Champions and in Merced's Central California Band Review. The band also performed at the California Music Educators Association Concert Band Festival at Downey High School and earned a Superior rating with an average score of 90.75.
