The Merced County Fair said it’s holding free field trips that give children an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at the fair.
Hands-on ag education and lots of fun is the goal of the one-day-only event. The fair is offering special tours for children’s groups from area schools, Scouting organizations and summer recreation programs.
The fair is June 15-19 and reservations for the free tours, which last up to 90 minutes, are available now for Thursday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to noon. Tours are offered before the fairgrounds open to the general public, so kids get a chance to check out some of the fair's attractions.
Activities will include a tour of the fair's agricultural exhibits, a visit with live animals at the "Great American Petting Zoo," hands-on educational fun at the "Super Science" exhibit, a puppet show and entertainment provided by Tadpole the Clown.
Reservations are recommended because the tours are popular. To schedule a tour, call 722-1507. Go to www.MercedCountyFair.com and connect on Facebook and Twitter.
