Tdap booster clinic set for Friday at Merced High School

Castle Family Health Clinic, in partnership with WestMed College, will sponsor a Tdap booster clinic at Merced High School Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 711.

All school districts in Merced County are invited to send students that have returned signed permission forms. School nurses will be assisting with the vaccinations throughout the day. A new state law requires all 7th-12th grade students to have a Tdap booster shot before entering school in the fall.

The Tdap vaccine helps protect against pertussis, also known as whooping cough. The law came in response to the worst outbreak of the preventable disease in generations. More than 7,800 cases of whooping cough were reported in the state in 2010.
