Dance classes for adults and two camps for kids highlight the summer programming from the City of Merced Parks and Community Services Department.
A four-week Beginning Latin Dance class session will feature two-hour classes covering the basics of merengue, rumba, cha cha and salsa.
Wear dancing shoes or comfortable, non-marking shoes. Partners are good but singles are welcomed. The minimum age is 16. The cost is $30 a person or $50 a couple. Classes will be held in the Senior Community Center Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 6-27. The instructors are Glenn and Leanne Rozman.
The city also said is offering a Kinder Camp for youngsters and Camp McCombs for kids in first- through-eighth grade this summer.
Kinder Camp will be held from June 6 through Aug. 11 at the Stephen Leonard Youth Center, 640 W. 7th St. The all-day session runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is $75 a week. A half-day camp is available for $45 a week and runs from either 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Camps are for kids ages 3 to 6 and they must be potty-trained. Activities will include puppetry, painting, arts and crafts, story time and lunch. Sign up for the camp at 690 W. 16th St. Proof of age is required. For more information, call (209) 385-6895.
Camp McCombs will offer sports, arts and crafts and other activities at the Boys and Girls Club, 615, W. 15th St. from June 13 to Aug 5. The all-day session is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $60 a week. The morning camp from 8 a.m. to noon is $40 a week, and the afternoon camp from noon to 6 p.m. is $50 a week. Sign up for the Camp at the Boys and Girls Club. For more information call (209) 722-9922
