Nancy Koerperich named chief of Cal Fire's Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit

Cal Fire said Nancy B. Koerperich was appointed unit chief of the Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit.

She has worked in the fire service for 28 years, beginning her career in 1983 in the Tehama-Glenn Unit, and has held various positions in Red Bluff, Tulare, Visalia, Santa Clara and Grass Valley.

In 2000 Koerperich was promoted to battalion chief at the Cal Fire Academy at Ione and worked almost five years as the basic fire control coordinator and 18 months as the structure fire battalion chief.

In March 2006 she became acting division chief in the Fire Training Division and was promoted to the position a year later. In that role, she was responsible for all basic-level firefighting training within the state.

In 2008, she transferred to the San Luis Obispo Unit as the division chief for administration. Last year she was promoted to deputy chief of command and control in Sacramento.
