The Merced County Arts Council, Inc. and Merced County Area Agency on Aging said they will host a dance Saturday, June 4,with live music by “Just Friends” (Rudy Merino, Eddie Synigal, Joel Nixon, and Gloria Coronas) at the Multicultural Arts Center. Dance demonstrations in folkdance by Memo Keswick, and in cha cha by Glenn and Leanne Rozman.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and music starts at 6 p.m. and runs till 9 p.m.
The dance, made possible by a grant through the Merced County Area Agency on Aging. The grant allows the Arts Council to offer tickets for free to people aged 60 years and up. Youngsters can get their tickets at the Multicultural Arts Center-- $8 advance/$10 at the door. Doors open at 5:30pm, with music and dancing from 6:00-9:00pm.
Live music by “Just Friends” will include songs in a variety of styles, including swing, fox trot, Latin, waltz and '60s rock 'n' roll.
Intermission will send the band on a break, and bring two dance demonstrations to the floor. Local dance instructor Memo Keswick has been an International Folkdance teacher and performer for over 20 years, and offers classes at the Multicultural Arts Center. A demonstration in cha cha will be presented by Glenn and Leanne Rozman. The Rozmans are new to the Merced area, and will begin teaching classes in July.
