The skies of north Merced may get smoky during a wildland fire training exercise Friday when the city of Merced Fire Department hosts a wildland fire training exercise for fire agencies from Merced, Madera, Fresno, and Tulare counties.
The training will be conducted in northern Merced: West of M Street, south of Bellevue Road and north of Cardella Road. The use of the land for this purpose has been donated by BBC Merced Land, LLC, the city said in a news release.
The training will include a live fire environment, giving the firefighters hands-on training for fighting wild fires. The training will begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day, ending at 4 p.m.
