Livingston's United Methodist Church to honor retiring Pastor Kuyper June 19

The United Methodist Church of Livingston, 11695 Olive Ave., will hold a farewell potluck on Sunday, June 19, after worship for Pastor Bob and Elizabeth Kuyper.

He will be retiring after 43 years of ministry in California, all in the United Methodist Church. He and Elizabeth have been at the Livingston Church for eight years.

Originally, from Michigan, Kuyper was raised in Florida and went to school in Georgia and Tennessee. He met Elizabeth, from Indiana, in seminary when she was in the School of Nursing, both at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. In 1968, they came to California to serve in McFarland. After serving churches in San Mateo, Santa Rosa, Salinas, Oakland and Bakersfield, they came to Livingston in 2003. A member of the Livingston Rotary Club, Kuyper served as President of the club for two years. Elizabeth, a registered nurse, has served on the board of the Livingston Medical Clinic, and tested nursing assistants for the state.

The Kuypers are looking forward to retirement in Arizona, being involved in community affairs and being close to their grandchildren.
