Friends of Merced County Fair said it will announce a naming sponsor for new barn the new Big Barn project at the fairgrounds.
The nonprofit group will disclose the major donation on the first day of this year's fair, Wednesday, June 15, at 5:30 p.m. in the livestock area.
"This is a major milestone," FMCF Board President Jim Cunningham said in a news release. "We finally have what we need to make solid plans to break ground on the barn and maybe even use it for next year's fair."
"This major gift is great news for the future of our 4H and FFA programs throughout the county," said past Board President Les McCabe.
Merced County Fair CEO Tom Musser said the gift is a positive step for the future of the fairgrounds. "Merced County Fair is mostly self-sufficient, so we're in better shape than most fairs around the state,” he said.
