Building Healthy Communities said it had rescheduled its Southwest Merced/East Merced County Kickoff Celebration to Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gilbert Macias Park in Merced, at the corner of E. Child and G Street, near the Merced Flea Market.
The highlight of the event will be the 100-person Community Drum Circle, with drums and instruments being provided by Drummmm! Rhythmic Events. There will also be free food, free kids' entertainment, including bounce houses and facepainting, DJ music and exhibit booths from local community organizations.
Entertainment will include an exercise class conducted by Jazzercize Merced, and dance performances from The South Pacific Dance Company, BET Hip Hop, the Merced Belly Dance Company, and ballet folklórico group, Danzantes de Merced. Raffle prizes will be given as well.
All entertainment will start at 10 a.m., and the Community Drum Circle will start at 12:20 p.m. All community members are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact Katie Thompson at United Way at (209) 580-6090.
