No one hurt in Loughborough drive-by shooting

No one was injured in a drive-by shooting Wednesday night in Merced's Loughborough area, police reported.

Officers went to the scene in the 1200 block of Loughborough Drive after residents reported hearing shots in the area.

Two men, ages 32 and 38, told officers they were seated on park bench at an apartment complex when they were fired upon by an unidentified person driving a dark-colored, four-door sedan traveling eastbound on Loughborough Drive, according to Lt. Bimly West.

The shooter then quickly sped away. Police found several bullet casings in the roadway of Loughborough Drive. Detectives aren't releasing the caliber of the bullets because of the ongoing investigation.

Officers checked the area, but no one was arrested. No details are available about the shooter's description.West said the victims maintain they don't have gang affiliations.
