Crop report for Merced County for week of July 17

A report on crop conditions for Merced County for the week ending July 17has been released by the Merced County Agricultural Commissioner’s office.

About 75 percent of the wheat crop has been harvested. Wheat, along with corn and barley, are being harvested.

Corn continues to be planted and the fourth cutting of alfalfa is underway.

The fig harvest continues, and the strawberry harvest is complete.

Cantaloupe and honeydew harvests have begun. Market tomato and processing tomato planting continue. Market tomato, bell pepper and watermelon harvest continue.

Rangeland conditions are good.
