No serious injuries reported as train strikes car in Atwater

12:35 p.m. ATWATER -- Sgt. Sam Joseph said the train operator told him it appeared the silver Nissan was attempting to race the train along Santa Fe before crossing the control arms at the Bellevue Road intersection. The car was clipped and spun around. Katey Leeper, a witness, said she didn't expect anyone to get out of the car after the accident, but both occupants appeared to be unhurt. Still, the woman claimed injuries and was taken to the hospital.

11:55 a.m.: ATWATER -- No serious injuries were reported in an accident between a freight train and a Nissan reported at Bellevue Road and Santa Fe Drive around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Witnesses reported seeing the Silver Nissan drive through the control arms at the railroad intersection right before the car was struck by the train. The car spun several times, but the passengers in the vehicle were seen walking around after the accident. They were taken to a hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.
