No serious injuries were reported Wednesday after a big rig carrying 50,000 pounds of peaches overturned, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened at 11:30 a.m. on Highway 165 near Turner Avenue. The driver of the truck, 23-year-old Juan Florencio Gomez of Fresno, told CHP investigators he was traveling at about 35 mph southbound on the highway, according to Officer Luis Lara.

Gomez came to a curve in the road, and while turning the bins holding the peaches on the trailer shifted to the left. Because of the shift in weight, the tractor and trailer were both pulled over, dumping hundreds of peaches onto the shoulder of the highway.

Gomez’s suffered minor injuries to his left arm and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The crash caused slowdowns in traffic on Highway 165 as CHP officers investigated the crash and CalTrans workers cleared the scene.
