Leadership Merced and Junior Leadership Merced seek applicants, donors

The Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce said it’s seeking applicants for two long-standing local leadership programs.

Applications for Class 8 are being accepted through Friday, Sept. 2, at noon for Junior Leadership Merced. Merced County high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for this tuition-free program. Sponsors include Farmers Insurance Group Federal CU, F&M Bank, Central Valley Community Bank, Merced Rotary, Merced Active 20/30 Club, Community Foundation of Merced and Kathy Wyman.

Tuition for Leadership Merced, Class 27, has been dropped by $150 to $600. There are 15 confirmed applicants and the chamber’s goal is 20 or more. The application deadline is one week away. If you are interested in sponsoring a day, providing a full or partial scholarship, or otherwise donating to the class, please contact Adam Cox (acox@merced-chamber.com) or Jennifer Krumm (jennifer@merced-chamber.com), and the chamber will recognize your business.

Scholarship donations are being accepted in $300 increments. There are also one or two full-ride scholarship slots available to individuals who live or work in the Building Healthy Communities designated area (Planada, Le Grand, South Merced, Franklin-Beachwood).

Donors to date include Hilmar Cheese Co., Leap/Carpenter/Kemp Insurance, Gallo Center for the Arts, REFIL-LLC/Crystal Andersen, Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union and United Way.
