Merced College's Community Services program said it will sponsor two bus trips in October to San Francisco and to Santa Clara.
On Oct. 8, the bus leaves for San Francisco's De Young Museum for a Picasso exhibit. "Picasso's Picassos" features 150 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints from the Musee National Picasso in Paris. These works, drawn from Picasso's personal collection, represent every phase of the artist's career, offering insight into his working styles and transforming the definition of art.
The cost is $80 a person, which includes transportation, refreshments and tickets to the museum. The bus leaves at 7 a.m. and returns at 6 p.m.On Oct. 15, the bus travels to the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara. There will be a collection of more than 800 quilts and works of wearable and textile art. In addition, more than 700 quilts and garments will be on display — many competing for prize money. The Vendor Mall sells quilts, garments, supplies, equipment and more.
The cost is $65 a person, which includes transportation, refreshments and admission. The bus leaves at 7:30 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m.
