Man robbed of $11 while walking home in South Merced

A man walking home from a store in South Merced was robbed at gunpoint of $11 in cash Thursday evening.

The victim told Merced police officer Brian Rinder he was walking in the 100 block of W. 11th St. just before 7 p.m. when a burgandy minivan pulled onto the sidewalk and blocked his path. The suspect, a Hispanic adult male, got out of the vehicle, pulled a handgun and demanded the victim's money, police said.

The man gave the suspect his wallet, which contained about $11. Officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
