Man robbed at gunpoint at South Merced apartment complex

A Merced man was robbed at gunpoint Monday night while he was parked at a South Merced apartment complex.

Merced Police say Alfredo Castaneda, 32, of Merced, had just dropped off his girlfriend at the apartment complex at 1133 G St. and was sitting in his vehicle getting ready to leave when he was approached by two Hispanic men. Castaneda handed over his wallet to the man with the gun, while the other suspect took his cell phone.

The men then handed the property over to a third suspect who was standing behind them. Castaneda told police he thought there were four suspects in total who participated in the robbery.

The men then ran northbound through the apartment complex.

Castaneda described the armed suspect as a Hispanic male in his late 20s to early 30s, with a round face and tattoos on his face and neck. The other suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s with a stocky build and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt. The other two suspects were also Hispanic males in their early 20s, both standing approximately 5-foot-3 and wearing dark clothing. A
