Two Fresno girls suffer major injuries in Highway 152 crash

CHOWCHILLA -- Two 12-year-old Fresno girls suffered major injuries after a two-vehicle crash Monday on Highway 152 just west of Highway 99.

Carey Johnson, 38, of Fresno, was driving a 2007 Nissan west on Highway 152 around 6:20 a.m. Monday when he made a U-turn from the slow lane, blocking the fast lane as Danny Swenson, 38, of Clovis, approached. Swenson hit the brakes but was unable to stop before hitting the Nissan, according to the California Highway Patrol. Both vehicles came to rest in the center divide. Swenson was not injured. Johnson and his 12-year-old female passengers were taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment.

Foggy conditions limited visibility to about 100 feet Monday morning, according to the CHP. The collision remains under investigation.
