Merced Sheriff's office seeks help in solving Dec. 9 restaurant shooting

The Merced County Sheriff's investigators are asking for help in solving a Dec. 9 shooting at La Cascada Restauraunt on Santa Fe Drive. According to reports, a 21-year-old man was shot once in the upper torso and once in the head during a fight that occurred in the parking lot of the restaurant. A security guard found the victim in the parking lot, and he was flown to Modesto for treatment. The victim is on life support and detectives are looking for the suspects.

More than 100 people were at the restaurant and in the parking lot the night of the shooting, but witnesses have so far been reluctant to come forward, the sheriff's office said. Any information, however insignificant, may be helpful in the investigation, said sheriff's spokesman Tom Mackenzie.

"Even if no one saw the shooting, they may have seen the person responsible without knowing it," he said in a press release.

If anyone has information, contact Det. Mike Ruiz at (209) 385-7472.
