The Golden Valley Men's Barbershop Chorus presents its annual Dinner Show on Saturday, April 14th at the United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway, Merced. The Show features the Chorus, a chapter quartet, as well as quartets from both Merced High School and Manteca High School. The Show follows a delicious Italian pasta dinner with all the trimmings! Tickets are $15 per person and $7 for age 12 and under. A reservation for a table for 8 gets priority seating in the front two rows (while tickets last). Doors open at 5:30, Dinner at 6:00. Samba Arts Group presents a series of summer concerts at Lake McSwain the end of May through October. Several thousand folks visit the McSwain/McClure lakes on the weekends to camp or hang out in their RVs. Arbor Gallery Arbor Gallery is proud to have been joined by three new members in as many months. In December, CR.Radding joined the Gallery. CR is a very accomplished jewelry maker. James is a digital artist who creates complicated and color rich compositions using his computer. James had a show at the Multicultural Arts Center this winter, and the Gallery members were just thrilled when he asked to join them. Linda Abbott is the third new member of the Arbor Gallery. Linda creates beautiful landscape and floral oil paintings. Linda is a local artist and it is a joy to have her as a new member. Merced Library News The Merced County Library launched its first ever Adopt-A-Book program, in which members of the community can support the library with a $25.00 donation that will go toward the addition of a new book or DVD to any of the 16 Merced County libraries. A bookplate with an inscription of the donor's choosing will be placed inside the cover. The adoptee will receive a thank-you letter, receipt (the donation is tax deductible) and a picture of the bookplate in the mail. Suggested donations are $40 for 6 weeks or $7 per class; 2 for 1 (bring family or friend); Youth and children (with adult) free. The class teaches basic line, circle and couple dances from around the world. Dances progress from beginner to intermediate level dances. No dance partner necessary! The class is designed to have fun, exercise, and to meet new friends! You'll find the instruction very supportive and non-intimidating.
