A motorcyclist from Denair was killed early Saturday on Highway 99 south of Taylor Road in Modesto when he apparently lost control and hit a chain-link fence.
Notification of the man is being withheld, pending notification of next-of-kin.
The man was driving south on the highway “at a high rate of speed,” the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. “For unknown reasons” the 2002 Kawasaki motorcyle drifted across lanes and onto the west shoulder of the highway.
The driver “traveled out of control” heading west and hit the fence, CHP said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Alcohol or drugs or both are suspected to be a factor in the collision, CHP said.
