NEWMAN -- A Los Banos man died Sunday after the car he was driving veered off the road and struck several almond trees west of Newman, authorities said.
The 37-year-old man, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, was driving a 1991 Toyota Corolla west on Orestimba Road when he went off the road for an undetermined reason, according to a California Highway Patrol news release.
The man suffered major injuries and was taken to Modesto’s Doctors Medical Center, where he later was pronounced dead.
It’s not known how fast he was driving and an exact time of the crash has not been determined due to a lack of witnesses, the CHP reported.
CHP responded to a report of the crash at 5:07 p.m.
The accident occurred west of Eastin Road.
