The Merced College Office of Continuing Education will offer two “Mature Driver Improvement” noncredit classes for community residents over the age of 55.
In Merced the noncredit class will be held May 10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Merced College Tri-College Center in Building 5. Students must enter the Tri-College Center from the G Street entrance.
In Atwater the class will be held April 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road.
The instructor, Richard Rentfrow, will show videos and lecture on a variety of subjects that can affect a person’s driving habits and safety. Many insurance groups throughout California support this DMV state-approved course. In order to receive the DMV certificate, students must complete the eight hours.
Upon proof of completion for the eight-hour class, insurers may allow an insurance discount, according to a news release from the college’s Office of Continuing Education.
For more information about any discount, people should contact their insurance representatives. Interested individuals can contact the Merced College Non-Credit Office at (209) 381-6540 to be placed on the class enrollment sheet, as space is limited.
