An 18-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot Saturday night at a residence in the 500 block of Margaret Court in Merced.
No suspects are in custody, and police say the victim isn't a known gang member.
The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m., and police responded when residents called 911, reporting gunfire, according to Lt. Matt Williams.
Police found the victim at the scene with gunshot wounds. The victim told police he was inside the garage at the residence with friends when a vehicle pulled into the driveway. An unidentified man exited the car and, without provocation, fired several shots, Williams said.
The victim was flown to a regional hospital for treatment. He is listed in serious but stable condition.
A suspect description is not available.
