A 36-year-old woman received facial injuries Sunday from being punched by a robber, Merced police reported.
The incident happened between 6 and 7 p.m. in an alley in the 300 block of West 11th Street, according to Lt. Bimley West.
The woman was walking when she was approached on foot by the robber, described as a Latino man in his mid-50s, 6 feet tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with brown eyes. He was wearing blue jeans and a red shirt, West said.
The robber demanded cash, but the victim refused to comply. The robber then punched the woman in the face and pulled her hair. The woman gave the robber $45 to $50. He then fled the scene.
The victim reported the attack to Merced police at 9:20 p.m. West said her eyes looked swollen and bruised. The victim said she had seen the robber before, but didn't know who he was.
