Two people were injured in a shooting Saturday in the 200 block of R Street, near 2nd Street in South Merced, police reported.
Officers responded to the scene at 2:30 p.m. and found the two victims -- a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old female. The man suffered a grazing wound to his forearm, while the female was shot in the arm and upper torso, according to Lt. Tom Trindad.
The man refused treatment, while the women was taken to a Modesto hospital. She's expected to survive.
Police say the motive and circumstances of the shooting remains under investigation.
No details are available about the shooter. Witnesses told police a tall, light complexioned black male was seen running from the area.
