Camp Green Meadows is piloting a new summer recreation camp to incoming sixth- through eighth-graders.
The five-day program runs June 4-8 at Camp Green Meadows in Fish Camp and the Sierra National Forest near Yosemite National Park.
Different from the traditional school year’s outdoor school program, the summer camp will host a variety of recreational activities: trail hikes, exploring Big Creek and two day-trips exploring Yosemite National Park.
“We are looking forward to offeringa summer camp program that will be excitingly different from what we do during the school year. It really is a great opportunity for the children of Merced County and surrounding areas,” Green Meadow’s Principal Bob Bassett, said in a news release.
To make the summer camp a reality, Green Meadows needs a minimum of 50 campers to register by May 25.
Registration is first-come, first-served, and the price is $250 per child with all meals, activities and lodging and included. That’s a one-time rate for the pilot program.
Children will be picked up in Merced on the morning of June 4 and returned June 8 in the early afternoon.Checks and money orders can be used for registration fees. Registration packets can be picked up at MCOE/CAE office B-1 or downloaded from www.campgreenmeadows.com/summercamp.
The Merced County Office of Education is also looking for high school cabin leaders who would like to participate and spend the week at Green Meadows.
