Fresno Mitsubishi will close its doors for good next week, officials said today.
The dealership at 6286 N. Blackstone Ave. has been operating for 10 years. Its last day is Jan. 31.
Officials said in a statement that the combination of changes at Mitsubishi, the slowdown in the automotive industry, the recession and the inability of consumers to obtain auto financing "has made operating the franchise in Fresno no longer financially viable for the owners."
The dealership appears to be the latest casualty in a hard-hit industry. Bret’s Ford in Dinuba is reportedly shutting its doors, and Saturn of Visalia is essentially closing as the manufacturer buys back inventory.
