Six people, all 21 years old or younger, were stabbed in Denair on Thursday night, authorities said.
All are listed in stable condition and were being treated this morning at area hospitals. Three of the victims required surgery.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Main Street and Merced Avenue after reports of a stabbing, according to Deputy Andrew Winter.
When deputies arrived, four victims were waiting in their cars. They were transported to Modesto area hospitals by ambulance. Two other victims had been taken by family members to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.

Winter said all the victims appeared to be family and-or friends and are from Denair and Antioch.
Apparently, the incident began near an apartment complex on Merced Avenue. The victims were in front of the complex when the suspects drove by in a car. Words were exchanged, and a fight ensued.
Investigators have only talked to three of the victims, and it’s still not known how many suspects there were, their description or what kind of car they were driving, Winter said.
