The Denver Broncos released third-string quarterback Tom Brandstater today, moving rookie Tim Tebow up the depth chart.
Brandstater, who attended Turlock High, was a sixth-round pick in 2009 out of Fresno State. He served as Denver's third quarterback all last season and didn’t get into a regular-season game. Brandstater, 25, may have become expendable after the Broncos selected Tebow with the 25th overall pick in April’s draft.
Brandstater spent three years as Fresno State's starting quarterback. He passed for 6,857 yards, 47 touchdowns and 32 interceptions for the Bulldogs. His best season was 2007, when he threw for 15 touchdowns, five interceptions and 2,654 yards as the Bulldogs went 9-4 and won the Humanitarian Bowl.
