Nearly 2 pounds of heroin found in Modesto home

An ongoing drug investigation led to the seizure of nearly two pounds of heroin and the arrest of two people, Modesto police said.

Miguel Marquez Rodriguez, 44, of Modesto, and Luz Manzorico, 22, a Mexican national, were arrested Wednesday inside the south Modesto home on Napa Court, according to Sgt. Rick Armendariz of the Modesto Police Department.

An investigation into a suspected drug dealer led investigators, armed with a search warrent, to the home.

There, they discovered 1.9 pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of $88,000. Police also founded a loaded handgun, a half ounce of cocaine and $700 in cash.

Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of possession for sales of illegal drugs, possessing a loaded handgun in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy.

Manzorico was arrested on suspicion of possession for sales of illegal drugs, possessing a loaded handgun in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy. In addition, Manzorico was placed on an immigration hold by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents (ICE).
