Police department starts Toys for Tots campaign

Livingston Police Department officially kicked off its 2007 Toys for Tots program with a surprise visit from Santa and the campaign’s first donation of $2,000 from K Hovnanian Homes.

Diana Larks, Community Manager for K Hovnanian Homes was present to donate the check to the Police Department with

“This year's goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase all of the toys that will be given on Dec. 21,” said Livingston Police Chief Bill Eldridge.

John Mucci, who coordinates the program, expects to receive more than 800 requests for toys from throughout Livingston.

“This is the most important special event sponsored by the department,”Mucci said.

Eldridge asked the community to help by donating new toys or cash to the police department.

Cash donations will be accepted by either check or cash at the front window of the department.

“No amount is to small or too large for us to accept as a donation.”Eldridge said. “We hope the entire community will open their hearts to help those who are truly in need during this very special time of the year.”
