Man recovering from shooting near Livingston

A 22-year-old Madera man is recovering after being shot early Wednesday while driving in his car in the Livingston area.

Merced County sheriff's deputies responded to the 5100 block of Lincoln Boulevard after the victim, who had been driving at an unknown location, was shot in the left shoulder by an unknown caliber firearm.

The victim drove himself to the 5100 block of Lincoln Boulevard, where he went to a house and asked for help.

The victim was uncooperative with deputies when they attempted to get information about the incident, and he was flown to a Modesto area hospital.

MacKenzie said detectives are looking into the incident and haven't ruled out gang violence as the cause.
