Yosemite schedules public meetings for new Merced River plan

A series of public meetings for the new Merced River plan have been scheduled, according to Yosemite National Park officials.

Meetings to discuss the Merced Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive Management Plan will be held in nine locations throughout the state. The first is Monday, Oct. 26, in Oakhurst. The effort will include planning for the entire 81 miles of the Merced River through Yosemite National Park, and will also contain planning for Yosemite Valley, El Portal and Wawona. Each meeting will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., except for the Oct. 28 meeting in Yosemite Valley, which will occur from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monday, Oct, 26: Masonic Lodge, 40216 Highway 49, Oakhurst.

Tuesday, Oct. 27: Mono Basin Visitors Center, Highway 395, Lee Vining.

Wednesday, Oct. 28: East Auditorium, Yosemite National Park.

Monday, Nov. 2: Mariposa Government Center, Mariposa.

Tuesday, Nov. 3: REI, 7810 N. Blackstone Ave., Fresno.

Wednesday, Nov. 4: Groveland Community Hall, Groveland.

Monday, Nov. 9: Sacramento Southside Clubhouse, 2051 6th Street, Sacramento.

Tuesday, Nov. 10: Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center, Berkeley.

Monday, Nov. 16: Los Angeles River Center, 570 W. Ave. 26 #100, Los Angeles.
