Yosemite National Park will debut environmentally friendly hotel rooms and a new "green" store Wednesday.
Two prototype guest rooms at the Yosemite Lodge at the Falls feature automatically controlled energy-saving cooling and heating systems, insulation made from recycled newspapers, low-flow toilets and organic cotton sheets produced in a solar-powered factory.
Yosemite's new "green" store, called "Habitat," features products made from recycled materials, such as glassware made from recycled wine bottles, shirts and tote bags made from recycled plastic bottles and cotton, and purses made from reused computer keyboards. The store is located in Yosemite Village, near the post office.
