Fire burns shed, 19 acres in Hornitos

HORNITOS -- A shed was destroyed and 19 acres of grassland burned in Hornitos when a debris fire escaped on Monday afternoon. The fire started at 12:50 p.m. and was controlled by 3 p.m., according to Cal Fire spokeswoman Karen Guillemin. The blaze was the result of an out-of-control debris fire by homeowners in the area of El Dorado Street, Guillemin said. Nine engines and two hand crews helped fight the fire. No injuries were reported.
