Yosemite's Mist Trail closed after reports of hikers being swept over waterfall

The Mist Trail in Yosemite National Park has been temporarily closed until at least noon Wednesday because of search and rescue operations. Park officials received reports that one or more hikers were swept over Vernal Fall early Tuesday afternoon, but haven't been able to confirm the incident.

Visitors wishing to hike from Happy Isles will need to ascend the John Muir Trail, bypassing the Mist Trail, which leads to Vernal Fall.
