The Catheys Valley Museum, spelling bee winners and recharging area groundwater are some of this week’s topics on “Community Conversations,” a public service program on KYOS.
The hour-long show focuses on community, education and government news affecting residents throughout Merced County. It airs on KYOS, 1480 AM, at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday.
This weekend’s lineup: Caroline Korn talks about the Catheys Valley Museum; Merced County Superintendent of Schools Steven E. Gomes congratulates the winners of the Merced County Spelling Bee; Jennifer West of the Merced Chamber of Commerce talks about the chamber’s recent move and its new website; Rick Pruitt of Atwater talks about discovering a sister he didn't know existed; and Mike Jensen from Merced Irrigation District talks about the agency’s efforts to recharge the groundwater in the region.
The show is produced by Nathan Quevedo, public information officer for the Merced County Office of Education; Mike Conway, public information officer at the city of Merced; Roger Wood; and Scott Hernandez-Jason of UC Merced, in association with the county of Merced and Merced College.The show’s hosts this week are Quevedo, Wood and Conway, and Steve Colvard from KYOS is the engineer.
