Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run

A 29-year old bicyclist was injured in a hit-and-run car accident involving an orange Kia on 16th and M streets early Friday morning.

The unknown driver fled the scene after striking the victim to the ground at 12 a.m. After flagging down a police officer, the victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of a possible broken arm, police said.

The accident occurred as the car was turning right onto M Street from 16th Street. It crashed into the man as he was traveling east on 16th Street, according to Merced police Lt. Bimley West.

Merced police traffic investigator Keith Rieg is currently investigating this incident.
