Six firearms, medical marijuana stolen from Santa Nella house

The Merced Sheriff’s Office said a theft of medicinal marijuana and six guns in Santa Nella spoiled the Thanksgiving holiday for a Santa Nella resident.

On Thursday around 9 a.m. the sheriff's office got a burglary report from the 13000 block of Anacapa Road in Santa Nella. Sometime during the night, someone had broken into the house and stolen the occupant's supply of medicinal marijuana.

The theft was discovered when relatives came over to feed the pets and found all the bedroom doors open, along with a tiny window where deputies believe the suspects crawled through to gain entry into the house. The suspects went straight to where the victim kept his ounce of marijuana, in a crawl space, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie.

Also taken in the burglary were two rifles, a 30-06 and 30-30; two .22 caliber rifles; a shotgun and a large caliber semiautomatic handgun, along with an Xbox360. Nothing else in the house appears to have been taken, according to a sheriff’s office news release. The owners left town Wednesday night for the Holiday, and the burglars broke Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
