What they said: "It is said too much of life is spent waiting for something great to happen. Tonight, we wait no longer," Xiong said. "When we step off this campus, it signifies our entry into the world of adults. We are going to be the underdogs again. It's us versus real life."
"'Each diploma is a lighted match. Each one of you is a fuse,'" Xiong said, quoting former New York Mayor Edward Koch. "So class of 2009, light up the sky."
Said Brown, "It's not over yet. We are in this for the long haul. The really long haul."
Other accomplishments: The class gift was money for the library to buy more book. A flock of ducks was let off into the sky as the ceremony began.
