The Turlock Christian High volleyball team has yet another big playoff match on the road tonight.
And should the Eagles win their CIF Northern California Regional Division V first-round match against Mt. Madonna of Watsonville, they'll be on the road again.
"That's OK. We've played almost every playoff match on the road," TC coach Keith Landmeier said following the Eagles' loss to Ripon Christian on Thursday in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship at UC Davis. "We're used to it."
Landmeier's Eagles are one of three Stanislaus District volleyball teams playing in the NorCals tonight. All three have their hands full:
Turlock Christian drew the No. 8 seed in Division V and plays the top-seeded Hawks at Bethany Bible College in Scotts Valley. Mt. Madonna features 5-foot-10-inch senior outside hitters Alexa Rosendale and Hannah Meade; they average 10 kills a game.
Division V section champion Ripon Christian drew the No. 3 seed and plays at home against No. 6 Marin Academy of Mill Valley. Should the Knights win, they would play at the Mt. Madonna/Turlock Christian winner in a NorCal semifinal Saturday.
Division IV section runner-up Ripon is at No. 2 seed St. Mary's of Berkeley. For the Indians to be successful, they'll have to find a way to stop the Panthers' top hitter, senior Tarah Murrey (5.7 kills per game) and senior setter Melissa Lasher (6.7 assists per game).
