COACH THE YEAR
TONY IPPOLITO, Downey
Ippolito stepped down after 24 years at the helm of the Downey wrestling program. His wrestlers were always known for their strong fundamentals and his teams were always competitive in both the Modesto Metro and Central California Conferences. While many schools struggle to field full teams, Ippolito had so many kids go out for wrestling — more than 80 many years — that he had to conduct practices in shifts.
